Healing in Color KC

Healing in Color KC.

Welcome to Color Collective KC! We are counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and psychologists of color who came together to make finding a therapist of color in KC simple.

Welcome

A note from our founders.

Welcome to Color Collective KC!

We suggest you take some time to look at each clinician’s website to get to know them a bit better before reaching out, to see who you might enjoy working with the most. We do require that you follow up and contact all of the therapists on the list before placing another referral on the referral form to find different therapists. Many therapists offer free phone or Zoom consultations, which is a great way to get a feel for them before committing to an appointment!

We hope that you are able to find some peace and healing with your new practitioner. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about the website—any questions re: clinicians should be directed to them. Thank you!

Questions

Good to know.

Is Color Collective KC free to use?

Yes. Browsing the directory and getting matched are free. Each clinician sets their own fees, and many list insurance, sliding-scale or self-pay options on their profile.

How do I contact a therapist?

Open a clinician’s profile and use the Contact button to reach them directly. We suggest looking at each clinician’s website first. Many therapists offer free phone or Zoom consultations.

Do I need to contact everyone on my list?

Yes, please. Follow up with all of the therapists on your list before requesting another referral, so referrals keep moving for everyone.

Can I see a therapist virtually?

Many clinicians offer virtual sessions. A therapist needs a license in the state where you live, even for virtual care, so filter by Missouri or Kansas.

Who do I ask about a specific clinician?

Questions about a clinician’s availability, fees or approach should go directly to that clinician.

Is this a crisis service?

No. Color Collective KC is a referral network. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 any time. In an emergency, call 911.
