About Color Collective KC

Built so you never have to search alone.

In September 2020, we started a Google Form referral process, and quickly matched nearly 100 folx of color in KC with therapists that met their needs. While this website provides easier access to the therapists, please reach out if you are having trouble finding a match!

This directory now makes it even easier to reach the 120 counselors, social workers, family therapists and psychologists of color in the collective.

How it works

Three steps to the right fit.

Browse on your own or answer a few questions. Either way, your list is ready in minutes.

  1. Build your list

Search by state, ages, insurance, language and specialty, or let Get Matched rank the best fits for you.

  2. Get to know them

Take some time to look at each clinician’s profile and website to see who you might enjoy working with most.

  3. Reach out to everyone

Contact every therapist on your list. Many offer free phone or Zoom consultations to help you find your fit.

Why BIPOC?

Why specialized services for BIPOC persons in Kansas City? And why BIPOC?

BIPOC are frequently left out of conversations and opportunities regarding mental health services. Though we sometimes struggle with the term BIPOC, we use it because it recognizes the more specific, intense struggles of Black and Indigenous folx, while still encompassing all folx of color.
